Co-parenting Counseling

Co-parenting after divorce can be very difficult. Separating personal issues from parenting issues is a skill that many parents find challenging. Co-parenting counseling is an opportunity to discuss problematic issues in a non-threatening environment with help from someone experienced in facilitating communication. You can learn to focus on parenting issues and your child’s best interest without the intrusion of past relationship problems. Parents find that it is possible to resolve tough issues without court intervention.

If you have not had contact with your child for an extended period of time or your contact with your child is very difficult, you may need reunification counseling. The process includes the therapist meeting with each parent and child individually to learn everyone’s perspective. When the child is ready the therapist meets with the estranged parent and child together to facilitate establishing a healthy relationship. The focus of reunification counseling is the best interest of the child. The goal is for the child to have a healthy relationship with both parents.
